Problem Solving - getting barcode scanner to work

Barcode scanners actually do a really simple job, converting codes into letters and number. In fact your computer treats them like a keyboard.
However barcode scanners do come in all shapes and sizes, wired or bluetooth etc. So setting them up can be a pain.
Sometimes, when testing to make sure your barcode scanner works, its easier to just take BRM out of the equation.
Simply open up a notepad application on your computer / tablet etc.
then put your cursor at the top of the document, and scan something in:

The letters and digits encoded inside the barcode should simply be written to your pad.
