Problem Solving - change dates over existing activity

So what happens if you have a reservation, and you change the dates to dates which are not universally available by all contained assets?

BRM spots the problem and gives you an error of course:
"Asset(s) not available for given dates..."

However the error message can be a little hard to understand.
The following analogy might help you understand what is going on.  You're in a busy car park, but parked up successfully in your spot.  When you parked the space behind you was free, so when you return to your car, you stick it into reverse to extract your car.  However you bump into the car behind.  In the time since you parked the space behind you has now been filled by another car.  Only it is like having several cars all linked (to one reservation).  Tell 10 cars to reverse one space at the same time, one or more cars runs into trouble depending on what happens to be behind them.

This is what is happening with this situation in BRM.    One or more of your assets (rental items) is colliding with existing activity when you try to change dates.

Let's take a more detailed look

Here is a concrete example and how it would look if you were to look at the availability calendars concerned:
Bike 18 gets booked out to Apr0002
Then along comes Apr0003 and books three bikes; 18, 19 and 21
Then someone tries to modify the dates of Apr0003 to the previous two days.

You cannot because Apr0002 has grabbed bike 18, so you get the asset not available error...
