Customisations

BRM understands the business of bike rental, and it also understands that bike-rental businesses come in many different forms, for example:

  • high volume - e.g. beach rental / city rental.  Get as many bikes out and in during the day as possible
  • high end - lots of carbon fibre and lots of exacting clients requiring the bikes are set up just how they like them.
  • tour companies - e.g. selling tours, but using their own fleet of bikes to help deliver their packages.
Your company may be small or large, you make take advance bookings or just walk-in, and it may or may not be described by one of the above-mentioned categories.  In any case you need a system that works the way you do, otherwise it will slow you down.

Here are just some examples of how BRM can be customised to the way you do business:
  • 24hr / full day mode -  You may define a day as 'until this time tomorrow'.  Or it may be just on a calendar day basis - e.g. 'til the end of today'.  Both will affect pricing and the way your calendar workds, BRM handles either
  • 12hr / 24hr clock - you, or your country of operation may have a preference, BRM handles both.
  • currency & timezone - BRM supports your currency and what time zone you're in.
  • tax rate - you may or may not charge Sales Tax / VAT.  you'll want to define the applicable rate.
  • Reservation Types - you may already take many different types of reservation, for example 'bike rental' - whereby its just a simple rental.  You might do 'tour bookings' which are associated with packages that you may deliver.  'Delivery' rentals where you send the bikes off to other locations.  You define your rental types & how they look in your planning view.
  • your fleet! - probably the most important thing you define.  Of course you upload your own bikes, including models, descriptions, images etc.  You define how they fit together into your offering in terms of categories etc
  • pricing - you decide how your pricing works, from simple: ' half day / day / week' to complex, where you define any type of 'graph' you like for your bike prices. e.g. gets progressively cheaper the longer they rent.
  • generic / simple operation -  Please read this article
  • online booking wizard - you define if you want to offer online booking of your bikes over the web. If you do, of course you have a lot of customisations within the online booking wizard.
  • Shop opening times
  • Shop holidays - if you're closed you'll want to make sure you don't take bookings for those dates.
