'shoulder' availability checking
'shoulder' availability checkingThis proposed feature will be relevant for stores managing 'heavy logistical requirements'. By that we mean taking reservations for items in various different locations. This doesn't necessarily mean that you are a multi-location operation, but that you handle orders across a large Geographical area, rather than simply rented from your central store.
e.g. does this scenario sound familiar?
- many of my rentals are picked up in-store
- I need to take 2 bikes to XYZ town on 17th June, and pick them up 18th June
- I need to ensure I don't book those 2 bikes from my store on the 18th June (coz they will be in-transit)
In other words, your client is renting from 17th -> 18th June. That is what they will pay for.
But the bikes are not available from 16th -> 19st June due to operational reasons (pickup and return and maintenance)
Should availability checking would allow you to automatically 'wrap up' your availability requests in a larger 'envelope' to make sure you don't make silly mistakes:
- You want to book 2 items for 17th & 18th June.
- you identify your item RAL62015, but you then see it's being used in another location the day before. So you choose another one.
- problem averted.
